Södra Sandby & Lundacross

Patch 2011.01.11

This past weekend marked my first ever ‘cross race, in my (adopted) hometown of Södra Sandby. I rode up with less than an hour to go, got a club pass for the day, and rode in the sport class. Another pistard, Lukas Råberg, started beside me. It was hairy with a lot of snow to ride through, but the pack thinned out and I had more time to focus on the task at hand. There was a section so snow covered that one had to run in snow for about a kilometer. As early as the first lap I started having hallucinations there, and will remember it fondly as “Hallisar tunneln.” The path led us around a playground and down to the bike path I rode every day in my exchange year. After two and a half laps the race was over. Lukas had to bail early on, I came in at a distant fourth. I won an icescraper.

On Sunday the race moved to Lund. The path took racers around a track and two football fields. There were multiple levels parallel to each other so the spectating was ideal. After hitting my knee badly on wet ice on the way over and having my brakes not work like they should have, I bowed out. Komet Club Roleur‘s Anton & Acke raced in the superclass, so we stayed to watch.

  1. [...] Sandbycross och Lundacross. Premiere för båda Lukas Råberg och yours truly (jag skrev lite mer här). Jag kom fyran (av typ 6) och Lukas hoppade ur och tog en cigg på direkten. [...]
